The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
