'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Information After Ski Resort Inferno
The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a tragic fire at a establishment in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and appealing for any details about their loved ones publicly.
The fire devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed footage depict the roof structure catching alight as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.
Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another 119. Officials said on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been identified, with the process continuing to locate the remaining few.
In the waiting period, loved ones have been using the internet to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were at the bar that night.
Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For
The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.
The resident of a town near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but was unsuccessful.
"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she stated.
She explained that some of his peers had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."
The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that six of its citizens remain missing.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage sportsman, originally from Italy but now living in the UAE.
The Italian Golf Federation has released a tribute that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the bar.
"Someone with him told me they escaped after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.
One of his educators stated, "He was known for his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. Every time ask if help out."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on that night, according to reports.
Her brother has posted an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
